Gravity … Fg = G (m1*m2)/(d^2)

But what does this scary looking formula of letters and numbers that Newton so cleverly discovered really mean for us in daily life?

You see gravity at work any time you drop a book, step on a scale (ughhhh), etc. It's such a constant presence in our lives, we seldom marvel at the mystery or consequence of it … unless of course we realize one fine day while giving ourselves a scrutinizing look in the mirror that our breasts are not as high up as they used to be 10 years ago. That’s gravity at work for you! But don’t despair; there are ways to protect our greatest assets (next to heavily mascara-ed lashes, of course) from this natural force: well constructed underwear – our support system.

Gravity makes no exception on where or whom it works, it unfortunately doesn’t exclude anyone. Rule of thumb: the bigger the asset, the higher the insurance policy ;o)

On the bright side it can still be said if you’re sporting an A-cup it works a bit slower and you can afford to just protect your boobs in lacy numbers of brasserie. Anything up a B-cup I’d say needs higher protection in form of lining or padding (which in any case also takes care of the antenna-problem during the cold season).

The basics when shopping for underwear: You want your support system to be as invisible as possible unless you want to make it an obvious fashion statement by (partly) showing it off.

To find the right size:
When you try on your potential new purchase make sure you check your profile – while looked upon from the front an over-spilling cup looks quite sexy, in profile it can give a saggy impression which we want to avoid at ANY cost! So if in doubt try on a tight fitting t-shirt on top and give yourself another profile look in the mirror.

The other day I went lingerie shopping with this elf-like friend of mine. We entered this cute boutique in Paris, looked around and decided which models she wanted and would suit her. I offered to fetch everything in her size while she tried on the first batch. When she told me to get everything in a 90C I fell out of my clouds! There was this petite, small framed girl standing next to me, barely weighing 45 kg ... I said no way. Only then I learned that 90 translates into 34 American or 75 European – still I wasn’t convinced but she wouldn’t budge, after all, she had bought exactly that size all her life!!!

So she went to try on some stuff, and showed me proudly how well everything fitted just that the back strap was riding up north a bit ... It needed the shop assistant’s confirmation as well to make her trust me that she needed a smaller under bust size. She complained initially that it felt snug – I told her that that’s what is called support ;o) We had a good laugh and are still smiling about this story.

So to sum up the seizing part: The cup should be well filled but not over-spilling and the straps should fit snuggly without cutting into your shoulders or sides!

If you want your bra to be invisible especially under a tight fitting white (or light colored) garment, opt for the t-shirt number in SKIN color – since white will still show! I admit that the sexiness factor is somewhere below zero but there are still some quite nice models available that do have the smooth seamless cups that are on the outside hidden at frontal view but at least have beautiful lace for a back straps
.
